Introduction

ALGSoft Inc. ("we," "our," or "us") built Digi Voice as a commercial amateur radio digital voice communication application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the Digi Voice app on iOS, macOS, tvOS (Apple TV), and watchOS devices.

Digi Voice is intended for licensed amateur radio operators. Use of this application requires a valid amateur radio license issued by your country's telecommunications authority.

What Digi Voice Collects — and Does Not

Your Callsign, DMR ID and Passwords Belong to Third-Party Platforms

Your callsign and DMR/NXDN ID are credentials you registered on RadioID.net, BrandMeister, TGIF, or another radio network — independently of Digi Voice. Digi Voice does not issue, register, store, or manage these credentials on its own servers.

When you enter your callsign and password in the Settings screen, that information is saved only on your local device and sent directly from your device to the third-party server you select. We do not otherwise receive it, other than your callsign, which is also sent as part of the basic usage statistics described in Section 12.

Configuration Stored Locally on Your Device

The following fields are stored only on your device for these protocol purposes. Other than your callsign — also sent as part of the usage statistics in Section 12 — they are not otherwise "collected" by us and we do not otherwise see them:

Apple TV (tvOS) — On-Device Data and Local Settings Transfer

Digi Voice for Apple TV stores its configuration only on the Apple TV itself (UserDefaults), exactly as described above. As on every other platform, nothing is sent to ALGSoft Inc.

Because entering a callsign, Digital ID and network passwords with the Siri Remote is impractical, the Apple TV app can import these settings directly from your iPhone over your local network. The transfer is strictly local — a direct connection between your own devices on the same Wi-Fi/LAN, never through the internet, Apple's servers, or any server operated by ALGSoft Inc. It is discovered through the Bonjour service _digivoicesync._tcp declared in the app's Info.plist (which is why tvOS asks for Local Network permission), and it is end-to-end encrypted with AES-GCM using a key derived via HKDF-SHA256 from a 6-digit code shown on your Apple TV and typed on your iPhone. Neither the code nor the derived key ever leaves the two devices.

On Apple TV, transmitting requires a connected microphone — for example an iPhone used as a Continuity Microphone — because Apple TV has no built-in microphone available to apps. And because an Apple TV is a stationary device, tvOS permits only a single one-shot location request, used solely for optional position/APRS reporting.

Diagnostic Log Files

The app writes session logs to the device's Caches directory (not iCloud-synced). Logs contain connection events, handshake status, audio engine status, GPS acquisition status, and error messages. Logs are stored locally and are never transmitted to us or any third party automatically.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to operate the application's core radio communication features:

  Callsign, digital ID, ESSID, and password are included in protocol handshake packets sent to the server you select.

  Position Reporting

  Coordinates you enter or retrieve via GPS are included in protocol configuration packets. This is standard in DMR/BrandMeister/TGIF protocols.

  Callsign / ID Lookup

  When you tap the ID lookup button, your callsign is sent to radioid.net via HTTPS to retrieve your registered DMR or NXDN ID.

  Voice Transmission

  Microphone audio is encoded and transmitted in real time to the radio server for the duration of PTT activation.

Information Shared with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or commercially share your personal information. The following limited sharing occurs as a direct result of the application's radio network functionality.

Radio Network Servers

When you connect to a network server, the following data is transmitted directly from your device to the server operator you choose — not through our infrastructure:

RadioID.net

When you use the Digital ID lookup feature, your callsign is transmitted to https://radioid.net via HTTPS. Please refer to their privacy policy at radioid.net.

Device Permissions

  Microphone — Required for PTT

  Requested on first PTT attempt. Audio is captured only while PTT is active and is transmitted exclusively to the radio server you are connected to. The app does not record audio to a file.

  Location (When In Use) — Optional

  Requested only when you tap "Get GPS Location." Uses requestWhenInUseAuthorization() — background location is never requested. Location service stops immediately after coordinates are retrieved.

  Local Network — For local hotspot connections

  Required to allow UDP connections to DMR hotspot devices on your local Wi-Fi network. Does not grant access to files or data on other devices.

  Local Network — Settings transfer to Apple TV

  Used on iPhone and Apple TV when you open the settings transfer screen, to discover your own device via the Bonjour service _digivoicesync._tcp so your configuration can be copied from iPhone to Apple TV. The payload is encrypted with AES-GCM under a 6-digit code you enter yourself.

Data Security

All settings, including passwords, are stored using UserDefaults on your local device, protected by iOS/macOS Data Protection and your device's passcode or biometrics.

Passwords are transmitted to network servers in the format required by the protocol: DMR uses a SHA-256 hash; other protocols may transmit within the UDP payload. We recommend using network-specific hotspot security keys rather than primary account credentials.

Data Retention and Deletion

Settings: Stored indefinitely until you reset or delete the app. Delete Digi Voice from your device to remove all settings.

Log Files: Stored in the Caches directory. The OS may delete them under storage pressure. You can clear logs manually from the Logs tab. All logs are removed when the app is deleted.

Children's Privacy

Digi Voice is intended for licensed amateur radio operators and is not directed at persons under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used this application without appropriate supervision, please contact us.

International Users

Digi Voice is developed in Türkiye. All data you enter is stored locally on your device. When you connect to radio network servers, your data is transmitted to servers operated by third parties in various countries. By using network features, you consent to this cross-border transmission as part of the radio network operation.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice within the application. Continued use of Digi Voice after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

Your Rights and How to Exercise Them

Because Digi Voice holds no personal data on its own servers beyond the basic usage statistics described in Section 12, how you exercise data rights depends entirely on where the data actually lives.

Data Inside the Digi Voice App (on your device)

  Read all settings directly in the Digi Voice Settings screen — everything is visible to you.

  Edit any field in the Settings screen at any time, directly in the app.

  Delete the Digi Voice app from your device. All UserDefaults and cached log files are permanently removed. There is nothing to request from us — we hold no copy of your data.

Data on Third-Party Radio Network Platforms

Your callsign, DMR ID, account profile, and transmission history are held by the platforms you registered with. Digi Voice has no access to this data and cannot modify or delete it on your behalf. Contact those platforms directly:

Usage Statistics We Collect

Digi Voice collects basic usage statistics so we can see how many people use the app and on which platforms. On launch (and whenever you change your callsign), the following is sent to our servers:
